Regional Contemporary Art Collection (FRAC)
Listed and protected as a Historic Monument, the former Grain Market Hall in Clermont-Ferrand is being reinvented to house the FRAC (Regional Contemporary Art Collection). The lighting design enhances the interior light and its perception from the public realm, sparking the curiosity of passers-by from the moment they approach the entrance.
During the day, the entrance hall evokes the atmosphere of a railway station, with natural light flooding the space.
At night, a luminous canopy takes over, recreating the intensities and hues of daylight, crowned by three large chandeliers that adorn the central vaulted ceilings.
The exhibition spaces are designed as flexible, adaptable volumes, able to evolve in response to events and the artworks on display. Facing the exterior, the glazed openings emit a neutral white light. In the early evening, low-level standby lighting maintains the presence of the structure while respecting the light levels permitted for the artworks.
