Le Flôt
Next to WSP Ingénieurs Conseils, OMA, DDA Devaux & Devaux architectes and Marco Rossi Paysagiste, we’ve won the competition to build a new bridge across the Saône, in Lyon, for tramway and soft traffic, on behalf of the contracting authority SYTRAL Mobilités. The lighting project takes the gentlest approach possible regarding the river and the hill. Respect goes toward the various water atmospheres, as for the wild and untouched nature of the right bank, which becomes accessible for pedestrians
Thereby, from the structure, only a thin horizontal line of light, highlighting the concave upstream and downstream edges of the deck, is reflected in the Saône. Light is made of a very warm white 1800K to respect the species which migrates above the river and lives around it. The bridge’s top is illuminated with small light points inserted into the guardrail’s rods, thus eliminating any light loss toward the water. This installation is completed by a lighting fixture mounted on LAC poles, at a position made for light circulations.
On the Confluence bank, a white and soft light underlines the tall X shaped pole holding up the curved “wet garden’s” footbridge.
On the other side, the lighting project preserves the tranquility of the hill with discreet fixtures integrated into thin tubular columns. The use of a white and warm light prevents any disruption of the existing landscape, whether it’s visited or contemplated from the opposite bank.
